3 Transmission // Orb Post // 8th of Rebirth's Height
[The first live feed of the field of thorns pans slowly from one side of the front to the other. The twisted brambles extended as far back as one could see. ]
So this is what everyone has been talking about. The soldiers here asked me not to get too close but…
[Eagle glances around, making sure those soldiers are out of sight, before walking carefully over to the wall of thorns in front of him. At this closer distance it was possible to see just how thick the vines were. It was very dark between the twists of plant and there was nothing much that could be seen in the dense tangle besides more vines and more thorns. ]
These plants don’t seem openly hostile.
[As if proving the point Eagle places a hand on one of the plants, between the stickers so as to not get jabbed by the thorns and the plant doesn’t react at all. ]
But, I have been told that if they are attacked they will retaliate.
[So, he might as well give that a try as well? He did want to see what would happen if the vines were cut with a sword. At first the hacking resulted only in the plant in front of him being damaged but, just as the soldiers had warned, it did eventually lash out to try and end the assault with a speed uncommon in most plants. If Eagle hadn’t been ready to leap out of the way he might very well have lost that sword of his to the thorns. ]
It is actually pretty fast!
[Just as quickly as it was damaged the thorns grew back to fill in the gap Eagle had just made until it looked like nothing had happened there at all. ]
No wonder they are making so little progress against it.
[Eagle smiles at the orb. ]
There you have it. If anyone was curious about the thorns that is all I have been able to discover about them so far.

I haven't really seen any birds since I have been here.

It kind of reminds me of how the horses stayed away from the village.
[Of course it is just as likely the animals don't want to be near a strange human they have never seen before. ]

Oh do be careful!
[They were so massive.. a fairy could easily get skewered on them]
If only there were some garden-talents here.

Are you from Cephiro? Lantis mentioned Cephiro had a large population of fairies.

Your philosophy is that rules are meant to be broken?
[She gently teased the stranger. Still she watched curiously as he proceeded, and the smile faded.]
They don't.. look that unusual either...save for that regenerating like nothing happened thing.

[So yes basically. If something good can be gained from breaking the rules then there is no point in following them to the extreme letter of the law. Rules are flexible like that, right? ]
Do they look normal? We really don't have plants like this on Autozam.
[Maybe they do on Cephiro... ]
Do you know very much about plants, Ms.?
no subject
Well.. they look like vines with thorns. A bit bigger than usual perhaps.. but they aren't that different than some varieties you can find on Earth.
Oh me? [I've been living in a tree for the past for months but....] A little bit. Nothing to phenomenal I'm afraid.

[Ascribing logic to a magic spell that obviously doesn't use logic. ]
With so much farmland around, I wonder if that is why they are heading towards the castle.
