Day 8 - Introduction [Open Log]
Characters: Steve Rogers
Open? Open
Where: A road that Steve hopes will lead to civilization
When: Morning on Day 8
What: Steve tries to find out where exactly he woke up this time.
Warnings: None that I can think of
Steve was beginning to wonder if waking up in strange places was becoming a habit for him. Though not as disorientating as waking up to find out that almost seventy years had passed since he was last conscious, finding himself in a meadow instead of his Brooklyn apartment with no memory of how he’d gotten there had still been unnerving.
As soon as he’d accepted that initial shock, he’d started searching for some sign of civilization, eventually finding his way to a dirt road and picking a direction at random that he hoped would lead to somewhere where he could find out what was going.
Maybe he should have taken a less conspicuous route, but if his kidnappers wanted to hurt him, they would have done so already. They wouldn’t have given him a battered set of ragtag armor or the white horse that calmly followed behind him. And they wouldn’t have let him keep his shield.
So he kept to the dusty track, wondering what he’d woke up to this time.

She turned towards the mountains, very small in the distance.
"No. We know that they respond to attack, but that is all we know. At this point, most of the king's army is standing post at their border."

His thoughts were pulled from the book when she mentions the army. "If they respond to attack, how is the army dealing with them?"

Still, if they were in such a position to try measures as desperate as kidnapping, Sif couldn’t imagine that the army was doing its job. She directed her gaze towards Steve’s ensemble.
“Are you a knight, then?”

Pulled from his thoughts, he shrugged slightly, considering the sword and armor he'd found himself owning. "I'm a soldier back home. I guess that means I'm a knight here." He was too polite to study her openly now that she wasn't quite classified as a threat, but he'd caught enough details for to know that she wasn't quite a knight. At least not one like him. "What is your position here?"

“Absolutely not. I follow—” One of them. Not two. She falters a bit, but presses on, cheerfully enough. “—I follow the crown prince on his mishaps. That is more than enough responsibility.”
“What of you? Are you a knight, back home?”
no subject
"I'm a captain back home. I led a group of soldiers during a war." Thinking of the Commandos, he quietly added, "Couldn't have asked for a better group of fighters." His voice returned to its earlier tone after a moment as he considered how to explain his strange status in a new decade. "I was preparing for a new assignment when I was brought here."

Moving on, brightly, she nodded. A fellow soldier. This was good.
"I was in a similar situation. My comrades and I were to set out on an expedition. The night took me before I could join them."
