ORB - RD9, Mid-Morning.

[A new face, feminine, blue, and topped by, well, tentacles, appears in the Orb. She looks rather frustrated, and as she speaks, her voice carries a note of the same thing.]

My name is Dr. Liara T’Soni. My kidnapper insisted that this...device...would allow me to speak with others taken from their worlds. Like it was a gift, to help me play his little game. Of course, I’m probably just standing here talking to a rock. Goddess, I haven’t done that for a while.

[Shaking her head, she puts a hand up, covering most of her face.]

There isn’t much I can do without information, and what I’ve been given isn’t very helpful. I don’t suppose that anyone else had more luck getting answers than I did, but it can’t hurt to ask. Do you know anything?

[She drops the hand and sighs.]

We can’t possibly have much time left, so does anyone have a way to get a signal off of this planet? I don’t even know what cluster this is, so I have no idea how far away the front is, but I am certain that it is moving closer. They have hit just about everything else already. I must speak to someone in the allied fleet as soon as possible.

[Well. ~~Goddess~~ Goodness. There's a bit of blinking on her end, but Ginia quickly recovers and responds swiftly with a written message held up in front of the orb.]

Common knowledge is we were brought here from our own worlds in order to serve as champions and fight off the thorns that threaten to destroy us all. That is what we all hear at the beginning. I've only been here for a handful of days, so I can't offer as much input as I would like. I've yet to see the thorns for myself, though I've been planning a trip there.

But I don't think there's a way to get a signal off this planet, technology is lacking. I don't think the allied fleet is around either.

[She pauses, taking a little time to read, frowning. Her mouth opens, and then closes a couple of times.]

So...you can hear me?

[A firm nod, a smile, and a small wave.]

[She takes a slow breath.]

If there was no way to send a signal off of this world, I would not be here. And I've only seen one relay that is actually on a planet's surface, so these people either have access to space travel, or technology more advanced than anything we are able to build.

And I can't say I'm having an easy time fearing a plant, considering everything. Yet, someone thinks kidnapping me is all it will take to win my alliegence? I think they were misinformed about me.

If you ask around, you'll be told you're here because of magic. Others would argue magic is science. I think they may be parallel sources. Also if you talk to the average civilian in this area, you'll find most of them to be idiots or archetypes found within stories.

That...that doesn't make any sense.

[She takes a moment, clearly thinking it through.]

Of course, this city certainly doesn't seem terribly advanced, does it? Relics, perhaps? Without industrial infastructure, how would they discover how it's used? And I doubt they could make more...

[Another pause, this one perhaps a little sheepish.]

I'm sorry. Is there, perhaps, a wizard's hall? Or some kind of temple? A center for the study of magic? It's important. Well, it might be.

I'm afraid I don't know, I'll have to ask one of my more magically-versed friends. Though the castle has quite the library and there's a monastery just out of the city to the east.

[Natasha is immediately leery of Liara in part of her blue skin, wondering if she's from the same place as Loki, but on the outside, there's no hint of her concern. She's calm, collected, and perhaps even responsive to the alien's distress.]

I'm about as new as you are, doctor. Name's Nicole. Nicole Rushman. Do you know about some attack that we should prepare for?

Are blue. [Obvious child is obvious]

Yes. Is there some way to contact you?

I find it hard to believe there is anyone in the galaxy who hasn't heard something about the Reapers. Especially a human, after Earth.

Yes, I know of a coming attack, though if the technology on this world is mostly forgotten, it may be spared in this cycle. But I know that mine, and hundreds more, have not been passed by.

And while my people die by the millions, I am being held hostage to discover hedge-trimmers.

Orb works, I'm also staying at the Drunk Duck Inn with my friends. If you meet Helios, blond hair, green eyes, glasses, quite friendly, I would ask him for advise on all things magical. He was the one I was going to talk to anyway. Rupert Giles as well. Older man, glasses, carrying a staff.

[She seems unsure how to respond, blinking before a slight frown settles on her face.]

Excuse me?

You can't possibly believe that this is really magic, can you?

[Ginia smiles a little. Her skepticism is appreciated, it's a nice bit of rationality and it'll serve her well.]

I was once in a world where I could control the wind to boost my own speed and conjure up energy to heal wounds. My friend can teleport, create barriers, conjure up fireballs, and once enchanted a necklace that allows me to speak. My world may not have magic, but in some places like here, I will accept magic as a viable force.

But as I said, magic, science, possibly similar or parallel things.

I could probably recreate most or all of those things in my own world, and all within the framework of what we know about the laws of physics. However advanced the technology, it's still technology. Calling it magic doesn't change that.

[She shakes her head, and takes a breath.]

And whatever it is called, someone clearly understood it well enough to bring me here, and you, and anyone else they've taken. That makes it very likely that someone knows how to send us all back.

[Liara pauses, looking past the orb for a moment.]

But if that power exists, what else is there on this world? If I'd come here even a few months ago...but there isn't any time left. I have to go back.

I realize this may be weak consolation, but coming from personal experience, time works differently here. Even if days pass here, time does not seem to move elsewhere.

Helios. And Giles.

[She seems to focus, eyes closed, and collect herself, and then turns and starts to walk, the orb moving to the side so she can keep an eye on her path.]

Do you know where in the castle their library is? Oh, and which way is East?

[She glances at the orb.]

Did you lose your voice here?

[Helios and Giles. Ginia is aware there's always a danger in passing their names out to strangers, but if someone can be helped, all the better. She has a hunch they'd probably speak to her anyway.]

The library is located [at this place in the castle]. As for east, if you're facing the castle and clock tower from the main path in the front, it'll be to your right. Follow the path straight to the gate. You'll know you'll on the correct path if you see a toll booth right before the east bridge. Don't worry about money, tell them you're a champion brought here, they'll let you on through.

[She smiles wryly before writing another message.]

I've never had a voice to begin with. I'm sorry for all the writing, it's all I can do unless you know any sort of sign language.

[She doesn't show any sign of surprise, but there's a note of it in her voice.]

I'm sorry, I am afraid I don't know any. Nothing useful, at least.

[The orb jerks as Liara stops suddenly.]

You have been staring at computer screens for too long. Ruins. Are there any kind of ruins, ancient ones, here? Old tombs, or sacred ground, anything? Something that is old, hundreds, or thousands, of years?

No need to apologize.

For ruins, northeast of Schwanheim - where you are now - you'll find the old capital. There's still some people living there, they'll try to make you pay for tours and to explore the area. You can get there within a day if you go by horse. Keep going east and you'll hit the mountains.

Directly southwest of Schwanheim is the Two-Faced Forest. Beyond by day, dangerous at night.

[Tasha raises one brow at the insinuation but keeps a civil tone.] Well, sorry to burst that unbelievable bubble, but unless you mean Grim Reaper, I'm not sure we're on the same page.

I do believe I am seeing blue, rather than red these past couple of days. I wonder if there is a reason for this.

[She pauses of that for a moment before actually answering the question.]

I'm not sure about a signal, but you make it sound like you are from space, from the talks of planets and the fact you are blue.

Are blue. Not like Faolan.

I know this may be a rather foolish question, given our circumstances, but how would one "go by horse"?
