[An orb feed came to life revealing a rather skeptical looking Clint. He still had problems with the whole ‘magic ball’ concept but after having seen people make multiple announcements he figured he’d just finally give in and make one of his own.]

Uh, hi? The name’s Clint Barton. If all the crazy things people have been telling me is something to believe I figured I’d do my part to try and help people get ready for whatever crazy crap comes up. So I’m offering archery lessons to anyone who wants some pointers and lessons. Thing is, I’ve only got the one bow so if you can bring your own equipment, I’d really appreciate it. Or maybe point me towards someone who has some cheap equipment for sale, that’d be great. I’m also willin’ to help people out with other kinds of projectile throwin’ like knives and the like.

[He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled wrly.] Ain’t gonna charge for the lessons too so don’t feel shy about coming around. I’ll be hostin’ them on the north road outside the city so there’s less a chance of anyone accidentally getting shot in the ass. That’s about it, ya’ll have a good day and I hope to see some of ya’ll there.

[With one final smile down at the ‘screen’, the blond archer ended the feed by letting go of the orb.]

[In all fairness, he had to consider it first. After all, he wasn't used to asking people for help. But this was another Avenger so he could at least attempt to not be a total prat.] I've been considering making a crossbow... [No, he's not grimacing at you Clint, but at the orb he still does not like.] Would lessons include those. Actually... you're an expert... you should come give me some ideas on what makes the best bows, arrows, bolts, and all that fun stuff. If you're game.

I can help you with that if you want. Been building my own equipment since I saw a kid. Just don't have the setup here to effectively get started. That and tryin' to find crap that's not sinew or some other ancient kinda stuff to use for a bowstring is kinda aggravating as all hell.

[He admitted with a faint note of exasperation in his voice.] But I'd be happy to teach you how to use that crossbow and give you some pointers on what'll make the best quarrels and stuff. So you're getting into the weapons makin' business here, Stark? [Clint asked with an ironic lift of a sandy eyebrow.]

[She smiles, and there's something of a challenge in it.]

I do not seek training. But I would see what a warrior of Midgard can do, Clint Barton.

[The archer's sandy brows crept upwards a tick.] Lady, that sounds suspiciously like a challenge to me. You ain't gonna break me in half if I wipe the floor with you in an archery challenge are ya?

Of course not. Projectiles are arguably one of my weaker areas -- to compete with you in one of my stronger areas would offer no challenge at all.

Then is sounds to me like it's an area you need to improve on, hmmn? What is your area of expertise, ma'am? If it's something I'm not too good at perhaps we can exchange lessons for lessons?

I am first in Asgard, when it comes to the blade.

[It doesn’t come out as boastful as it ought to, because it’s grounded in what Sif believes to be an easy truth. Thor has his hammer, Loki his magic. She has the sword.]

Your proposition intrigues me. But I would judge your merit, first.

[He mulled that over for a moment before nodding.] Alright, that'll work. I'm okay with a sword but it definitely ain't my area of expertise.

[Clint had to fight down a snort of amusement.] And somehow...that doesn't surprise me. Very well, Sif. You want to meet me up out there and we'll test each other's mettle first? [The blond's words were definitely a little suggestive but he'd always been one to walk on the wild side and take chances. Besides, if she was anything like Thor it might go right over her head!]

There's a wealth of cheap weaponry in the castle's armory. I've been told we should help ourselves.

Is there? [He asked with a surprised look.] Huh, first time I've heard of that, still kinda fresh off the boat. [The blond man admitted with a wry look.] I'll definitely check it out. Thanks, ma'm.

[ EYE TWITCH. She has officially been 'ma'm'd'. ]

Just Alanna, please. They aren't very high quality, but they'll do in a pinch.

[Clint can't help it, his mama raised him right! Still, he didn't miss the twitch and having had plenty of practice with prickly women, wisely decided to do as the redheaded woman requested.]

Right, Alanna. And I ain't too worried about quality, especially if it's just for teaching purposes. 'Sides if that's the kind of equipment you gotta work with out in the field then better to get used to it now, right?

At least until something better is available. I'm having equipment made by a blacksmith in town. There's nothing quite like having your weapons break in the middle of battle.

[Soberly, he nodded his agreement.] Not as much of a concern when you're shooting arrows at people but anything else, yeah. Shoddy workmanship definitely blows.

[The blond man's colloquialisms were definitely strange and modern.]

[ Kids these days, Goddess. ]

I'm not familiar with the phrase, but I believe the sentiment is the same. You can't do much shooting with a broken bow, either.

[That earned her a wry grin.] Steve said that same thing to me first time right before he broke my favorite bow in half.

[He agreed, blue eyes twinkling.] But then you can always used it to bludgeon someone if needs be.

[ She raises an eyebrow. ] And that is why I learned to fight with my fists. [ There were other contributing factors but that's a very good reason. ]

He had a point though. [The blond man admitted with a shrug.] Ain't nothing wrong with that either. 'Course against a bunch of weeds I dunno how effective fists are gonna be unless they can actually feel pain.

I'm not entirely convinced the thorns are even a threat. The villagers nearby certainly aren't concerned.

Then why the hell were we dragged into this madness? [Clint demanded, a frown starting to beetle his brow.]

[ She makes a face. ]

A game of the Gods', the King's own madness, who knows? All I know is that things are not as they appear at first glance.

[Sif was like Thor, in that many of this world’s colloqiualisms were a foreign language to her. She was not, however, so nearly as naïve as her friend, to miss something veiled so thinly.]

The first in all of Asgard with a blade, Clint Barton. Remember that.

Just promise not to bend me into a pretzel and we'll be good. [He didn't seem overly concerned with that and grinned rakishly at Sif.]

That's just all kinds of freakin' comforting isn't it.

[He grumbled under his breath.] Bad enough they kidnap our asses but now you're saying it's for nothing but some jackass's egotrip?

That would appear to be the case. I can't say for certain what the truth is.
