There was a hideous moment of silence as the nothingness of the gem seemed to almost absorb the energy being poured into it before the band of shadow in the center began to glow, a dull, sickening grey. There was a sudden snap as a crack flashed across the surface, the same smoke winding at the ground of the village beginning erupting outward from the glowing flaw.
