[Log] Cast-iron Chef
Characters: JW and Alice
Open? No
Where: The 'Demon's Shack' out in the field.
When: GHB 16
What: Alice shares an Underland recipe with the local hedgewizard and absolutely nothing can possibly go wrong with this idea at all.
Warnings: Swears and possible violence against squirrels?
'The day after tomorrow' as JW had requested, arrived. There was only one rickety old shack in the field between town and the two-faced forest, so it was impossible to miss. There was also the slight charred scent that hung in the air around the house because of the sheer number of blasts the little plot of land had suffered over the year.
It was a miserable looking place, all crooked shutters and missing shingles. The chimney looked like it could fall down at any moment and a lazy stream of smoke drifted from it.
WHAT WILL YOU DO, ALICE?

WHAT WILL YOU DO, ALICE?

Hesitate. That's the first thing she does because Alice, while a bit impulsive and prone to simply acting, is not entirely without her wits.
Pausing just there with her hands on her hips, she shakes her head and starts forward, lifting her hands to cup her mouth. She daren't touch the door, after all.
"Hello! Are you in there?"
no subject
"Door's open!" resonated from inside and as if on cue, it sagged on its hinges. JW soon appeared to wrestle the door upright and lean it against the outer wall. They would need ventilation anyway. "Well, you did show up after all."
He looked the girl up and down and hmmed to himself. He'd never say it, but he was pretty damn proud of himself for being right about who was taller. You could never quite judge over the Orb.

She's been taller though but, wel -- not now.
"Of course I did!" She pushes past him, only mildly offended. "I'm a Kingsleigh, we always keep our word."

The wizard's keep (if you could call it that) was a cramped, dank place. Shelves upon shelves of curious bottles and jars lined the walls. There was a stone fireplace in the corner and that was the only part of the house that hadn't been destroyed at least once. A ladder led up to a loft-bed piled high with blankets that may or may not have been stolen.
What stood out the most, though, were the cages. One wall was completely lined with cages and squirrels paced nervously within them. Some of them were missing patches of fur. Some were deformed. Some were purple. All of them chattered at the unfamiliar Alice.

"How curiously marvelous." She's peering at his chattering brood, brows up and forehead crinkled in curiosity. "What an odd assortment indeed. Wherever did you find them?"

The squirrels barked and chittered at their keeper and it was not a friendly sound.
The wizard wandered over to the fire place and crouched down to re-light the wood blocks under the cauldron. "Alright, so I got most of the stuff you told me about. I had to substitute a thing or two."
no subject
"Now, just in case -- I've listed out ingredients to both Upelkuchen and pishsalver." She spreads it on a table, utterly unfazed by the chattering around her. "I'm sure a substitute or two wont make too much of a difference..."
